Terms
Draft: the seller's business details and a legal review are still to be added before launch.
What you buy
One purchase of The Million Dollar Button for $1,000,000 USD (or the same amount in USDC or USDT, or the quoted amount of ETH or BTC), paid once through Escrow.com, by wire transfer, or in crypto. The button is never sold by card. There is only one; after it is bought, nobody else can buy it.
How it is sold. You ask to buy it on this page. Asking doesn't buy anything or commit you to anything, and nothing is paid on the page. The owner replies to serious requests personally and agrees the payment with you, normally a bank wire (or Escrow.com). The button changes only once your payment has arrived in full. Until then it is still for sale: if another buyer's payment arrives first, that buyer gets it.
At checkout you choose what the button becomes, and you see a preview of it before you pay: a link, a QR code, a photo, a few words of text, a short video, or a file that visitors download when they press it. A photo, text or video can also carry a link. Once paid, the button on this website shows exactly that. Nothing else is included.
Your content
You must own or have the right to use what you upload. It must be lawful and family-friendly and must not harm visitors (no malware, scams, gambling, adult content, or anything that infringes someone else's rights). Files are checked by their contents; programs and archives are never accepted. We may remove or replace content that breaks these rules; you can ask us to change it by email.
How long
Your content stays on the button for as long as this website runs.
Payment and refunds
Because the button changes to your content as soon as your payment is secured, you agree that the service starts immediately, which ends the 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU once it has been provided.
Escrow.com (recommended). Escrow.com, a licensed escrow company, checks your identity and holds your payment. The button changes to your content as soon as Escrow.com reports the full amount secured; you then confirm at Escrow.com, and only then does Escrow.com pay the seller. If you don't confirm or reject within the inspection period shown at Escrow.com, it releases the payment. Escrow.com's fee (about 1%) is split equally between you and the seller unless your Escrow.com transaction says otherwise. Escrow.com's own terms apply to the payment.
First payment wins. Starting an Escrow.com purchase doesn't reserve the button. If two buyers' payments are secured, the first one buys it, and the other buyer's Escrow.com transaction is cancelled so Escrow.com returns their money under its own terms. While someone pays in crypto, the button is held for them for an hour. If any other payment ever arrives after the button is sold, it is returned in full (less network or bank fees for crypto and wires).
Crypto. Send exactly the amount shown, on the network shown, to the address shown, while the button is held for you. The purchase completes when the transaction has enough confirmations. Payments to the wrong network, or less than the amount shown, are not a purchase; we return them where we can, less network fees. We may refuse payments from sanctioned addresses.
Wire transfer. A wire reservation records your intent and gives you payment instructions; it is not a purchase. Once your identity is verified (Stripe Identity) and we have your proof of funds, the button is held for you, shown as "PENDING VERIFICATION", for 24 hours. The purchase completes when the full amount arrives. If it does not arrive within the 24 hours, the hold ends. A direct wire goes to the seller, not to an escrow company, unless your reservation document names an escrow agent; for Escrow.com's protection, choose Escrow.com instead.
Polish the Button and the Wall of Mockery
"Polish the Button" ($10) makes the button shine a little brighter for everyone and shows your name, if you give one, in the live ticker. "The Wall of Mockery" ($50) shows your name, a message of up to 80 characters and an optional link on the marquee around the button. Messages must be lawful, must not attack people or groups, and may not contain links; we remove anything that breaks these rules without a refund. Both are delivered the moment they're paid for.
The room around the button
The props around the button (a rubber duck, a velvet rope, a camera) are for fun. What you do with them is shown to everyone watching. See Privacy for what the site records about visits.
